Top 4 teams extend lead

The top 4 teams in German Bundesliga – Bayern, Dortmund, Schalke and Gladbach - have all won their matches this weekend and have managed to increase their lead. Fifth placed Bremen is with 31 points 8 points behind Gladbach and 9 behind Bayern, Dortmund and Schalke.

Matchday 19 in Bundesliga has manifested the new balance of power. The four leading teams including Gladbach have all won their games and managed to make the gap between fourth and fifth bigger.
Bayern won 2-0 in Wolfsburg. The result sounds much easier than it was, the last goal was shot in minute 90. FCB did not have the game under full control but won anyway.
Dortmund however defeated Hoffenheim with 3-1 and did not even let anyone doubt for a second who was in charge on the green. Goals were scored by Kevin Großkreutz and Shinji Kagawa twice.
Schalke turned the match in Cologne around after being one goal behind. They managed to win the game 4-1. All three of them have now 40 points. Gladbach has 39 points on place 4. The “Fohlenelf” as they are called in Germany defeated VFB Stuttgart on Sunday with 3-1. Marco Reus scored one goal himself and was assisting the leading score.
Bremen and Leverkusen, number 5 and 6 in chart, played against each other this weekend. The game ended 1-1 in a draw.
Hamburger SV was able to win a match again as Thorsten Fink´s team fight to the end and secured a 2-1 lead over time.
FC Augsburg and Kaiserslautern ended up chopping the points with 2-2 as Freiburg was defeated with 3-1 by Mainz 05 and Hanover 96 won 1-0 on Friday night against Nuremberg.
