Two promoted teams with perfect start
The two recently promoted Frankfurt and Duesseldorf both won their starting matches on their return to Germany´s highest football league. Duesseldorf beat Augsburg and Frankfurt managed to defeat Leverkusen. The third promoted team Fuerth lost against Bayern Munich. Dortmund also won their starting match against Bremen.
Eintracht Frankfurt und Fortuna Duesseldorf started perfectly into the 50th Bundesliga season. The two recently promoted teams celebrated their return to Germany´s highest football league by defeating their opponents. Duesseldorf´s Dani Schahin was sent to the field by coach Norbert Meier around minute 60 when the score board showed no goals for both teams. Only twenty minutes later he had scored twice deciding the game for his team.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen failed to benefit enough from very dominating first half against Frankfurt and was only leading 1-0 as they headed for the locker room during the breake. Stefan Kießling had scored the only goal. After the changeover Stefan Aigner (57th minute) and Martin Lanig (82th) turned things around for Frankfurt deciding the game with two goals.
The third relegated team Greuther Fuerth was unfortunate enough to face Bayern Munich in their first Bundesliga match ever. Mike Buesken´s team fought but was clearly beaten in the end as the score board showed 3-0 for the favorite. Thomas Mueller (43th), Mario Mandzukic (59th) and Arjen Robben (79th) were the scorers.
Current champion Borussia Dortmund also started the new campaign victoriously. New signing Marco Reus started perfectly for his new employer as he scored only eleven minutes into the game. Dortmund was the overall stronger team but started to get more and more careless as they match went on. Theodor Gebre Selassie´s equalizer in minute 75 was the logical consequence. Three minutes later Mario Goetze was sent to the field by Dortmund´s coach Juergen Klopp. Another three minutes into the match and Goetze had scored the winning goal to secure BVB´s first win of the season. It was the 29th unbeaten Bundesliga match in a row for them.
Gladbach´s Juan Arango decided their game against Hoffenheim. First his free kick landed on Mike Hanke´s head to find it´s way into the net (33th). Around ten minutes after Firmino´s equalizer in minute 66 Arango curled a direct free kick beautifully into the right ankle.
VFL Wolfsburg´s start was made a good one in last minute as newly signed Bas Dost headed the winning 1-0 in minute 90. SC Freiburg and Mainz 05 chopped the points in the first match of the season.
Hamburger SV´s night mare from last campaign is continuing as Thorsten Fink´s team lost their home game against 1. FC Nuremberg. Hanno Balitsch scored the only goal in minute 68. HSV played spirit less and uncreative deserving it´s second defeat of the season just one week after the embarrassing loss in DFB Pokal.
The only Sunday game of the first matchday ended in a draw. The encounter of Hanover 96 and Schalke 04 was a very good Bundesliga match. First Hanover´s Felipe scored the lead for the home team just seconds before the breake. Last year´s best goal scorer Klaas-Jan Huntelaar equalized a couple of minutes into second half and Lewis Holtby turned things around for S04 as his header ended up in the net. Adrian Nikci equalized the score board again just second on the field with his first ball contact in minute 80.
